I'd like to say that starts the off-season, but maybe it would be better to call it the pre-season. =)
I love running (most of the time) but actually am looking forward to getting back into the pool, in the saddle, and on a weightlifting routine. Just like I need a break from swimming and biking by the time fall comes around, I need a break from running by the time my fall marathon is over.
Here are a few fun reasons I'm looking forward to the pre-season:
1. I have swimmer-specific hair conditioner just sitting in my shower, going unused.
2. I have a huge stack of unread mazagines, waiting for me to put in a 2.5-hour bike trainer session.
3. I'm starting to get a bit flabby and weak from being off my regular weight training schedule. I'm pretty sure I couldn't do a pull-up now if my life depended on it.
I'm looking forward to a fun fall marathon, but I'm also looking forward to runs that don't have to take up my whole Saturday and building a base in other disciplines, too. Plus, it won't hurt to be training in multiple sports when the holidays and all their unhealthy treats come around.
One thing I'm not looking forward to: Shaving my legs more regularly. I swim at a family facility, and I don't want to traumatize any of the kids.
